Historic House Hotels

In September 2008 HISTORIC HOUSE HOTELS LTD and all its interests in BODYSGALLEN HALL, HARTWELL HOUSE and MIDDLETHORPE HALL, became the property of the  NATIONAL TRUST, by donation, to ensure their long-term protection and with all profits henceforward benefiting the houses and the charity.

The company had been founded in 1979 to acquire and rescue run-down country houses, then to restore and convert them to hotels combining historically accurate standards with the provision of contemporary comfort for guests.  Decorated in a traditional country house style, the restored buildings resumed the appearance of well-kept private houses.

Outside, an equally thorough restoration of the gardens, parks and their buildings took place, including the planting of many trees, so that the setting might again be worthy of the architecture.

Each hotel also has a Spa with excellent facilities for exercise, health and beauty treatments.

Now, we welcome you, our guests, to enjoy this theme of country house excellence and comfort, which also dictates our style of hotelkeeping and food, with only very few allowances to be made for the fact that the building is more than 300 years old.
